We just spent a sweet holiday in Halong bay with Indochina Sails cruise. This was also our 2nd anniversary so I needed a perfect and special place for my darling Joanna and I. After spending few hours searching through search engines, we decided to pick Indochina Sails cruise in the end after a variety of offers from the cruise tour company Halong Bay Cruises. It was a right decision because things turned to be so wonderful for us at the beginning of the trip. The road from Hanoi to Halong was long but peaceful with countryside landscapes and green fields all along the way. Our room on Indochina cruise was luxurious but friendly. The staff and the services are two-thumbs-up. We felt like staying in a second home. The trip was a great pleisure with the spectacular sights of Halong bay. We have known this place is being considered to be a world’s new wonder but didn’t know it was this beautiful. Thanks to Indochina Sails crews for a smooth and memorable anniversary and Halong Bay Cruisescompany for offering us the best price we could find

Myself and my girlfriend have just come back from a 3 day, 2 night Indochina Sails Deluxe Junk cruise and we both have to say it was one of the best things we have done on any of our holidays! The boat itself was fantastic and well worth paying the little extra for an upgrade as we did get to see the basic boats on our transfer back to Halong Bay. We especially chose these cruise as it seemed to be more chilled out than the other cruises on offer and this proved to be the case as we got plenty of time to relax rather than being shipped from one place to the next and having no time to juts take the beauty of the place in. My girlfriend is a vegetarian so we were a little worried about what she would be able to eat with the itinerary saying the menu would be predominantly seafood. Even before we told the staff of this there was easily enough choice for her however the chef also prepared her at least two extra dishes every meal we had which was fantastic. Really the whole experience could not have been better from the staff to the food, to the itinerary the whole experience really was top notch!

We went on the 2 day, 1 night trip on Halong Bay with Indochina Sails on the premium junk. Our trip was organised as part of a tour of Vietnam so we really did'nt know what to expect, but it was fantastic from start to finish. We were welcolmed on board with a cool flannel and drink and after a short talk we went to our rooms. It was lovely, the bed was comfy, aircon worked well and the bathroom was well appointed with a great roomy shower. We had a nice little balcony as well and apart from seeing the water everywhere we would not have known that we were on a boat, so for those concerned about sea sickness don't worry!! Food was plentiful and we had a huge range of all types of Vietnamese and Western foods. We did a couple of little tours on surrounding islands which was also interesting. Congratulations to all of the staff on board, they were very friendly and helpful and also spoke english well. Only thing was we should have booked a longer trip!!

Halong Bay is an absoulte must. I have been travelling through South East Asia for a month now and this is by far my favourite spot/attraction. Secondly I have to totally disagree with the last review. I also did the 2 nights cruise and I would suggest that EVERYONE does the 2 night. In my opinion one night would not be enough. We were also lucky in the the second day we were the only guests staying the 2 nights and when we transferred to the day boat we had it ALL to ourselves. Yes there is no AC on the boat but there were at least 8 fans going all day inside. During out private second day cruise we didn't see 1 other tourist boat and truly felt that we were all alone in the bay! it was AMAZING! We got to Kayak, swim, cave, visit an oyster farm and have time to read and enjoy the scenery. The cruise in general was exceptional. The staff could not do enough to help and make our stay comfortbale. Mr. T was the man incharge and was helpful, imformative and friendly the entire journey. The food is AMAZING each day there we had a 6 course lunch and dinner was a buffet that consisted of pork, beef, chicken, squid, mussels and prawns. We were stuffed! Rooms were comfortable and needless to say the view out you window was amazing!! Yes this cruise might cost more than others but you get what you pay for and when you see the other boats sailing by you will be very happy you chose Indochina Sails. I for one will be back!

We have just returned from a 2 night 3 day cruise on Indochina 1 (the newest & largest of their fleet). The boat had 24 cabins of which there were only 11 passengers on the 1st night. As soon as we were collected from the terminal the treatment began, smiles and assistance where needed. Once on board we were given our room & we were delighted with it. Huge bed, room of good size, ensuite was also large with one of the biggest showers I have seen. Everything about the room we loved including the view from the large windows, although my wife wanted to have the A/C dropped lower but it wouldn't go below a pre set temp, which I found fine. Once we had checked into the rooms we were given lunch which consisted of 7 courses - un real! Prawns, calamari among the courses. The day then went to adventure with activities planned & enjoyed by all. Back on the boat its time to freshen up after which staff replennish the room with clean towels etc. By dinner time the 11 of us decided it was time for all of us to get together so we arranged for the staff to combine the tables and as a result we had a fabulous night of fun especially during happy hours (9-11pm). The followind day is spent on a day boat whilst those that only stayed for a night were eventually taken back to port & replaced with a much larger group. We spent the day enjoying other activities, all of which were great, and enjoyed another 7 course lunch. The entire trip was wonderful and I would recommend that if you have the time to do the 3 day 2 night cruise as it gives you time to really enjoy the facilities of the boat. All the staff on board were a delight & always made us feel welcome. They gave us plenty of information on the places visited & always had a cool drink on hand for the passengers. There was only one downfall with the trip, which is nothing to do with Indochina sails, & that is the distance from Hanoi about 4hrs by transport provided & that is another reason to do that extra night. The only cost on top of the original booking is for alcohol & soft drinks which are at a very reasonable cost. - Book with Brilliant Halong Cruise

Hubby and I booked this at home before we left. Our only regret was that we wish we had of stayed a couple of nights. The trip from Hanoi to Halong Bag was around 3 - 4 hours but we saw buffalo in the rice fields, various crates of animals on the back of motorbikes and many interesting sights along the way. We had a luxury room and you couldn't fault it. Comfy bed and good sized ensuite. Great food and friendly staff. Stopped at an island and climbed 400 steps. Awesome view. Had a choice of keyaking or visiting the floating village. Highly recommend the $15 wine tasting before dinner. Did tai chi in the morning. Visited a cave. Very relaxing floating around. Kept humming the tune to "Love Boat". Do it again in heart beat! - Booked with Brilliant cruise

We were very pleased. Our ship is called "Premium"-only 3 months old. We had one of the upgrade cabins. About 14 cabins in all. Truly luxury, first class. Great crew. They speak English. Buffet lunch was great, set dinner and breakfast were fine. The bay is wonderful We made three stips-one to climb a hill-beach available but too cold to swim. Kayaking or sampan to floating village was a special experience-very exotic but in fact the village is very poor. Next day-Tai Chi and then a great cave vist-really large cave called Suprise Cave. The weather was cloudy and foggy. if it had been nicer, like it probably is in the summer, I could have done 2 nights but as it was, one night was probably enough. Very well organized, very professional. The drive from Hanoi is over 3 hours because the roads are so slow. We went straight to the airport-plenty of time for a 5 PM flight. The boat docked at 11 AM. We booked through our travel agency.

After a shaky start (not caused by Indochina but the cancellation of our origional trip with the Bhaya) we boarded the Indochina sails and were greated by a lovely welcome party, a cold drink and face towel. The boat we were allocated was a beautiful Junk, with lots of character. the boat had around 14 cabins, an enclosed dining area, and a sun deck which covered the whole roof of the boat, which contained plenty of sun loungers and seating for everyone on board. Due to the previous problems with Bhaya, we had been promised a room with a balcony on the 'replacement' boat, by the tour agent. Unfortunately when we got on the boat this hadnt been relayed to the Indochina, so we were given a standard cabin - which was very nice - but not what we had been promised. After a quick chat with Jerry, the General Manager of Indochina (who happened to be on our boat that day) we were moved to cabin 201 - this was amazing!! we had a large room with twin beds, a huge bathroom with bath and a rain shower, and of course a lovely balcony with opening doors. We were so happy with our room that we didnt really want to leave it to do the activities!! The food onboard was very nice, with lots of variety. I was very happy with the food, however my sister (who lives in vietnam) wanted some western style food, as she is used to eating vietnamese food every day, so wasnt as happy as I was - however i dont think you can go wrong with sweet and sour chicken, squid, fried rice dishes, lots of salad and noodle dishes and the amount of fish optioned served was fantastic. the only negative i can say about the food was that the cake/dessert options were not that great! I dont think the vietnamese do cakes very well. this was the general concensus on the boat, however they were OK with a nice cup of tea! Breakfast and lunch was equally good with lots of choices. The trips off the boat consisted of a visit to the beach (with an optional climb up to a viewing platform if desired!), a trip to a floating village, kayaking through caves, a visit to the suprise cave. we also had the 2 night option, so on our 2nd day we went off for the day on a day cruiser which took us to places for Kayaking, swimming, and a pearl farm. I have to say that the day boat is not as good as the main boat, and that as i mentioned previously, we felt that we wanted to spend more time enjoying our own cabin and balcony rather than being put onto a seperate boat. however the food was lovely on the day cruiser, and as there were only 4 of us on the 2 night option, we got the whole day cruiser to ourselves. as part of the day cruiser trip we went kayaking into a lagoon and were lucky enough to see a whole family of monkeys!! The guide said it was very unusual for them to be on the rocks right in front of us, and that usually you could only see them high up in the trees. It made our holiday to see them and we stayed watching them in our Kayake for an hour!! We also took part in the wine tasting which was really good fun - for $15, we got to taste very healthy measures of all 10 wines on offer - however be warned that we only had 1 hour to do this!! we were very tipsy afterwards and we all commented that it would have been better to do the wine tasting on deck after dinner! Jerry was so accomodating, he even sent a transfer boat over to us on our boat to take us off swimming because we were hot! Now that is what i call service!! One word of warning though - if you want to swim off the boat when the smaller transfer boat is not moored alongside - you have to get out of the water using a very steep ladder. My sister and I both struggled with this and we are in our early 30's. someone less mobile would not be able to do it! It is best to wait for the transfer boat to moor alongside so that you can get in and out of the water with ease! All in all we had a fabulous trip - i would recommend to anyone. Halong bay is beautiful and the staff on the Indochina made sure we enjoyed every minute of it!

We booked the 2 days / 1 night stay on Indochina Sails, deluxe room, 2nd level. Our boat was the 'Indochina Sails Premium', which has only been sailing since Nov 2010, and is very new and luxurious. The rooms (24 rooms) were 5 star hotel rooms essentially, with big rain shower-head, spa bath, private A/C, private balcony (on upper level) and all the trimmings. The dining room, lounge and deck areas were spacious - good for mingling with others or for privacy. The food was great - a good selection at the buffet for lunch on Day 1 & brunch on Day 2. There was a set menu for dinner, Vietnamese and Western cuisine. It was filling and delicious. The staff on the boat were super-friendly and very accommodating for any requests; they really tried to keep everyone entertained if you wanted it that way (Tai Chi, food carving demos). We also took advantage of the on-board massage therapist (extra cost), to keep up the pampering. The trip itself was great. The boat sailed smoothly around Halong Bay with stops at TiTop island for spectacular views, a fishing village (which was a highlight) and the following morning we explored Surprise cave. It was a fantastic trip with Indochina Sails - definitely not cheap, but if you are looking to spoil yourself and do it in grand style, this is without doubt the way to go! Transfers by minibus from Hanoi were included - it is a bit of a scary trip, but that is just Vietnam I'm afraid! Halong Bay is spectacular and this trip was a fantastic way to see it! Our only regret was that we didn't book the 3 days / 2 nights instead.

We participated on 3 days / 2 nights cruise. This was excellent choice as we had lots of time (~8 hours) to sunbathe, kayak and swim on the ocean on the second day. With 2 day/1 night you just run from one place to another to watch various sights. We (a couple in early 30s) selected Indocina Sails purely due... Booked via Halong Bay Cruises

We went on the smallest boat in the Indochina Sails line. Ours was called the Valentine, with only 5 cabins. Although the weather was cold and gloomy, we had the most amazing time. The people we met were great and the activities were fun. We only stayed 2 days and one night, but you can also stay 3 days one night. The rooms are great and so is the food. If you have specific food requirements you get your own meal! All meals on the Valentine (I'm not sure about the others) are set menus, except breakfast, where you order your food. The kayaking was fun and the water was beautiful. The surprise cave was amazing. I recommend this to anyone and everyone who just wants to go as a couple or have children ages 7-17. After that there an adult :)
